Tekno recently released a new song, “Jogodo”, that had people scratching their heads because it sounded awfully familiar. Turns out the track samples a song that came out nearly 20 years ago, “Kpolongo”, by Danfo Drivers. Apparently, Tekno never reached out to them or gave them credit on the track. The music duo threatened to sue Tekno for stealing their intellectual property unless he pays up, during a short interview at the Headies. Well looks like they patched things up or Tekno gave them a bag of money, as he posted a picture on Instagram with the Danfo Drivers themselves.

Regardless of squashing the beef, something has to be said about the structure of the Nigerian music industry. Just a couple of months ago when Teni tweeted out that she actually wrote Davido’s “Like Dat“, she was met with backlash. Davido also didn’t acknowledge it or credit her on the song. In a recent interview with NotjustOk, Teni says it was a bitter-sweet experience but claims it’s all good. Either way, get your coins sis.

In any case, it Tekno is continuing his run of dropping music videos perhaps in preparation for an album release. Watch the video below!
